The new Sustainability Statement

Master writing the new Sustainability Statement

Soon thousands of companies across the EU will have to report against the new European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

For some, it will be the first time they’ve reported in detail on their social and environmental performance. Meeting the standards will provide challenges even for more experienced reporters.

To help, we’ve put together a sample Sustainability Statement, covering E1, which addresses climate change.

It’s one of the most important parts of the new Sustainability Statement. Under E1, companies will be required to disclose details of their climate strategy, their emissions and carbon removals, as well as their approach to managing climate risk.

For the purposes of our sample statement, we’ve invented our own coffee company. It’s entirely fictitious, as are all the details in the statement however, the disclosure is based on our knowledge of ESRS, as well as our experience of working with our clients on these standards.

Hopefully, our sample statement will give you useful insights into how to approach ESRS reporting – and how to turn pages of regulation, of disclosure and application requirements, into a clear, straightforward, well-structured, ESRS-compliant report.

If you’ve got views on our sample statement, we'd love to hear from you.
